Jo Leyland Recycling Center

Imperial is a recycling community with room to grow your family, your career, and your future. We pride ourselves in having a clean and attractive community, and our residents’ commitment to recycling is a large part of its success. We are fortunate to have such a robust recycling program for a community our size, largely due to the diligence of our residents to recycle and help keep our facility tidy and organized. By working together and recycling, our community diverted over 454 tons of material from going to a landfill in the past year!

The City of Imperial operates the Jo Leyland Recycling Center for all of Chase County and surrounding areas. The City of Imperial provides the manpower needed to prepare the recycling for shipment and finds markets for the collected materials. The recycling is prepared with a vertical baler for plastics, a horizontal baler for paper and cardboard, and an aggregator for glass. Much of the equipment has been funded through grants from the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality. For more information on the recycling program, please see our recycling information.
