“Western Nebraska’s State Fair”. This week-long event is filled with activity and brings thousands of people from several states to the community.  Best known for top name entertainment, past performers include Lonestar, Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper, Gretchen Wilson, Montgomery Gentry and Josh Turner.

The Imperial Theatre is owned and operated by the City of Imperial. In 2011, the theatre upgraded to digital projection, surround sound and installed a new screen. Other than the projectionist, the theatre is operated by community volunteers.  Movies are shown on Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday nights at 7 p.m.  For movie information call 882-4470 or look at the theatre's Facebook Page. The Imperial Country Club is located on the west side of Campbell Park. This beautiful nine-hole par 35 course enjoys lush green fairways and challenging greens at reasonable rates. Club house and cart rentals are available. (308) 882-4697. 

Enders Lake Golf Course

The Enders Lake Golf Course is located on the north side of Hwy 6 across from Enders Reservoir. This course features a long nine-hole, par 36 course with wide fairways and prairie views.  Reasonable rates, club house, driving range and cart rental are available. (308) 882-5300.

Enders Reservoir is located ten miles east of Imperial on Hwy 6 and offers water-based recreation for fishing, boating, water skiing, hunting and winter sports. Amenities include picnic tables, grills, shelters, modern restrooms, coin-operated showers, dump station, and fish cleaning station, 32 (30-amp) hookups and 200 non-pad sites.

Champion Mill and Champion Lake Recreation Area

The mill and recreation area were established in 1888.

The Champion Mill is the last functional water-powered mill in Nebraska. It stands as a symbol of the settlement and development of Nebraska and the West.  The mill offers summer hours only.

Champion Lake is located ½ mile west of Champion - U.S. Highway 6 or S-15A. Primitive campsites are available for those at one with nature.  In addition to camping, this recreation area offers family friendly picnicking and fishing.

Area Hunting

Chase County has approximately 17,000 acres of public land with walk-in access. There are populations of pheasant, quail, dove, turkey and deer throughout the county.  Enders Reservoir is home to many species of duck as well as Canadian Geese. Information regarding guided hunting may be viewed online at the Chase County Tourism website.  

The new pool was built in cooperation with Chase County Schools and  opened just in time for the 2009 Swim Season.  Located on East 9th Street, the heated pool is open from Memorial Day through mid-August.  Offerings include swim team, swim lessons, lap swimming, water aerobics, and night swimming.

The Imperial Skate Park was built in 2018 and has been described as one of the best outdoor skate parks in the state of Nebraska.

Soccer was incorporated into the city's recreation program in 2006 and has grown in popularity every year. Signups for all youth begin in February with the season concluding in May.

The Summer Baseball/Softball Program is sponsored by the City. Beginning at age 6, children can register for T-Ball teams, moving up through the levels to Legion Baseball for older boys and Senior Girls League. For adults, there are a number of mixed leagues, and men’s and women’s teams that organize and participate on their own schedules.

Youth League Basketball starts at the 4th grade level, boy’s and girl’s teams begin learning the fundamentals of the game and enjoying the team effort.

Federation Wrestling is organized privately, volunteers work with youth introducing them to the sport and teaching fundamentals.

The Imperial Lanes is a six lane bowling alley with synthetic lanes. The bowling alley offers youth, men’s, women’s and couples leagues. Open bowling is offered several nights a week. 308-882-5286.
