
Area Residents and Visitors Enjoyed a Fun Filled Weekend
Community volunteers worked for months organizing
Imperial's Quasquicentennical Celebration.

who participated in making it a great weekend.
Imperial was founded in 1885 by Thomas Mercier and Melville J. Goodrich. Thomas Mercier's great grandson Mark Jr. Mercier and his wife Sherie joined in the celebration.

19 teams entered the cake decorating contest Friday night. This diverse group of contestants displayed amazing creativity. Rivaling constestants included the Imperial Police Department and the Chase County Sheriff's Department.
79 athletes compete in the 5K, 1 mile run/walk and kids fun run.

The number of frog jumping and turtle race contestants exceeded expectations. Other activities on Saturday included master performers Greenblatt & Seay, carriage rides, horse gentler, archery demonstration, art exhibit, pie baking contest and ice cream social.

The Historical and Quilt Displays at the library on Saturday were a big hit with all generations. Saturday's activities concluded with an awesome fireworks display by the Imperial Volunteer Fire Department with assistance from the Wauneta Volunteer Fire Department.
Sunday morning kicked off with a community service followed by breakfast and the Firemens' Fun Day in the afternoon. The Fun Day was well attended. Especially popular was the annual mud volleyball tournament.
